This is post only refers to email accounts that are connected to your domain name/website ([email protected]).
If you are suddenly getting email errors and you’re sure you have an internet connection, here is the one quick thing to check. Is your website up and can you reach your webmail (http://mail.yoursite.com)?
If not, then it’s likely that your domain name has expired, which is why your email is not working.
Go to your domain registrar (i.e. GoDaddy, Network Solutions, Tucows..) and renew your domain (for several years). All will be well.
But, my domain name is not expired!
Ok, then here’s what to do:
If you are hosting with 428, the first step is to determine if you are having trouble with your incoming or outgoing email.
If you are having trouble receiving email, we can help – give us a call 619-284-4428.
If you are having trouble sending email, in most cases, you are using your Internet Service Provider’s (i.e. Cox, TimeWarner, Comcast, AT&T..) outgoing SMTP servers. You’ll need to contact them for help with outgoing mail issues. If you are not using your ISP’s outgoing server, give us a call.
