Get Jeff Lester to Graduation!

We recently launched a site for a very dear friend, Jeff Lester. Please visit his new site at  www.getjefflestertograduation.com to learn about this awesome man, his inspiring outlook and the campaign to get him to his graduation ceremony in Michigan next May.

Jeff was diagnosed in 1993 (at the age of 26) with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) and was basically told by doctors to go home and plan his funeral as he had 3 to 5 years to live.

Well, that’s not the way Jeff Lester works.  Seventeen years later, Jeff is a husband, the father of three daughters, and is a full time graduate student now earning his M.B.A. and a MS in Finance degree.

Jeff’s graduation from the University of Michigan-Dearborn is May 2, 2011, but physical and economic challenges will make this impossible without help.

Jeff is not asking for any donations, only that we spread the word (join him on Facebook and Twitter) and send an email to various talk shows like Oprah, Ellen, Dr. Phil, etc. explaining Jeff’s story/problem from your perspective and asking them to help. Even a one or two sentence email will help build awareness of the cause to these shows. There is also a suggested message to send on the How You Can Help page.

Jeff believes when faced with what seems to be insurmountable odds, you should take on the odds with a POSITIVE attitude and OUTLOOK.  Now he does not advocate going through life with “rose colored glasses” or that every outcome will be exactly what you want.  He tries to show how a positive attitude and outlook will greatly improve your circumstances whether you are just trying to have a successful career or are facing a life threatening disease.

I’ve known Jeff since I was 12 years old. I’m very fortunate to have re-connected with him in the past couple of years. I benefit (daily) from his wisdom, and am inspired by his unbelievable courage, determination, love of life and insight into what is really important.
